Ease of Implementation
Special attention has been paid to offering features that save accounting
and data processing effort. The Data Design user language, consisting of English
words, is used to control reports, forecasts and allocations. The user
language consists of common accounting terms organization and account names
and words defined in the User Dictionary.
Examples are:
|
Accounting Terms: |
1ST 6 MONTHS, NEXT YEAR |
|
Organization and Account Names: |
DIVISION-A, XYZ-PLANT, INCOME |
|
User Dictionary: |
PROFIT = INCOME - EXPENSE |
A Mass Change module enables users to alter their chart of accounts or
even change the size, number and sequence of the fields in their account
identification key. If a company wishes to alter account numbers, center
numbers or other entity codes, the system makes most file changes
automatically.
Companies can share a common set of options, account controls and report
definitions. Once a company is set up on the system, additional new
companies can use a part or all of the controls already established for the
prior company. Because controls are organized in logical groups, companies
can share those groups of controls they have in common (such as calendar,
patterns and accounts) while maintaining other controls independently.
A new company can copy a part of all of the controls from an existing
company and then modify those controls to meet its own needs.
These capabilities offer significant benefits. For instance, a company
has the flexibility of having its own unique or modified reports, chart of
accounts and so forth. At the same time, the effort of setting up and
maintaining identical controls for like companies is eliminated.
